Part-Time Transit Office Team Member

LOCATION: Trinidad or Walsenburg Office
REPORT TO: Transit Operations Supervisor

SCCOG TRANSIT MISSION STATEMENT: All residents of Las Animas and Huerfano Counties have access to safe, accessible, convenient and affordable local and regional transit services.

SCCOG Transit is accepting applications for a part-time member of our office staff. We are seeking a dynamic individual who is high-energy, reliable, outgoing, tech-savvy and consistent.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:  Assist with scheduling, dispatching and confirming transit rides • Assist with billing • Assist with reporting • In a polite and courteous manner, provide quality customer service to our passengers while maintaining good attitude • Deal with inquiries from the general public and work with our partners such as other SCCOG Programs, state and local governments, contractors and other vendors with professionalism and tact • Provide information and referral services and/or resources • Provide travel training and trip planning activities for our passengers • Using the Microsoft Office package, produce high quality reports, fact sheets, news releases, photographs, or scripts to our partners, media and others who may be interested in learning about or publicizing our activities and services • Participate in regularly scheduled conference calls or webinars with our partners that go over transportation issues • Acts as back up driver if necessary • Represent SCCOG during community projects and at public, social, and business gatherings • Any other duties as assigned by the Transit Operations Supervisor, Transit Director or Executive Director.

Part-Time Transit Driver

Summary: This is a part-time Transit Driver position responsible for providing quality transportation service for South Central Council of Governments Transit Program clients in the Trinidad, Walsenburg and Pueblo areas. The part-time Transit Driver is responsible for providing coverage during peak hours, vacations and sick days. Position may also involve dispatching, billing and deposits.

Qualifications: Valid Colorado Driver’s License. No major driving violations on driving record. Must possess a thorough knowledge of Colorado traffic laws. Must possess skills and ability to drive under inclement weather conditions. Must pass a drug and alcohol pre-employment test and random drug and alcohol exams as required by the Federal Transit Administration. Must be able to understand and operate smartphone technology.  Must possess ability to organize and prepare reports, report logs and other paperwork necessary to perform in assigned position. Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision. Must possess good interpersonal skills and get along well with people.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.      Provide safe, courteous, reliable and timely transportation service.

2.      Driver will operate vehicle in compliance with all State and City traffic and parking laws and ordinances.

3.      Possess knowledge, skills and ability to safely and completely operate any Transit vehicle as assigned during shift.

4.      Possess a thorough understanding of wheelchair lift operations and ability to operate wheelchair lifts on all Transit fleet vehicles.

5.      Possess a working knowledge of streets and landmarks in the service area, all systems routes, all subscribed service route operations, as well as all scheduled stops of the route deviation program.

6.      Communicate effectively with Transit dispatch via a two-way radio or cell phone.

7.      Maintain a clean vehicle, both interior and exterior, to ensure client safety and protect equipment.

8.      Perform daily pre and post trip inspections of assigned vehicle, recording all information on the inspection form, and turning forms in daily to Transit Dispatcher/Transit Operations Supervisor.

9.      Driver is responsible for immediately correcting and deficiencies such as low fluid levels or low tire air pressure, etc.

10.    Driver is responsible for condition of assigned Transit vehicle at all times. Responsible for handling routine maintenance functions such as checking oil and other fluid levels on a daily basis, adhering to preventative maintenance schedules and reporting any extensive maintenance issues to Transit Dispatch or Transit Ops Supervisor. Driver will assist Mechanic with scheduling of vehicle repair and maintenance as requested.

11.    Driver will ensure vehicle is locked and secured when unattended.

12.    Driver is responsible for ensuring that current insurance and registration papers are on-board.

13.    Driver will ensure that all safety supplies and equipment are maintained in assigned vehicle and in proper working order at all times.

14.    Responsible for recording passenger pick up and drop off times, passenger statistics, and fares paid on daily trip manifest.

15.    Responsible for the sale of transit passes to qualifying clientele and the collection of trip fares. Driver is responsible for reconciling funds collected with payments recorded on daily trip manifest. All money collected will be turned in at the end of the shift to the Transit Dispatcher or Transit Operations Supervisor for deposit.

16.    Provide assistance to passengers boarding and disembarking the Transit vehicle to guarantee client safety. Driver may be asked to assist passengers with carrying parcels such as groceries or laundry, etc.

17.    Maintain a positive attitude and address clients politely at all times. Display patience and kindness, as many of our clients require additional attention.

18.    Dress appropriately for work in uniforms provided by the South Central Council of Governments. Driver will maintain a clean and professional appearance.

19.    Responsible for the completion of all assigned paperwork in a timely manner, guaranteeing all information to be complete and accurate and accurate. Driver will accurately complete monthly transit logs and other paperwork as assigned and submit in a timely manner.

20.    Attend regularly scheduled Transit Safety Training Meetings and Drivers Meetings.

21.    Submit to random drug and alcohol testing as required by SCCOG and FTA.

22.    Responsible for providing personnel file documentation to Transit Operations Supervisor including, but not limited to, physical exam records, annual motor vehicle records, updated driver’s license information, safety training certificates, etc.

23.    Meet deadlines while maintaining a professional attitude.

24.    Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the public, co-workers, and supervisor.

25.    Recognize and correct or avoid unsafe conditions in the work environment.

Other duties as assigned by the Route Supervisor, Transit Director or Executive Director.
