Transportation Assistance
SCCOG AAA offers transportation assistance for medical appointments and personal errands in Huerfano and Las Animas County. Our services include trips to Pueblo and Medical trips to Colorado Springs. SCCOG transit department is currently contracted to provide rides to all AAA registered consumers. There is no charge to ride at the time you get on the bus, however donation letters with instructions will be sent monthly for suggested donation of $1.50 per one way ride to consumers homes. Donations should be sent to SCCOG administrative office in Trinidad. All AAA riders must be registered in AAA and Transit programs for donation rides to apply.  Confirm at time of reservation.  

All rides must be scheduled with SCCOG Transit Dispatch at (719) 845-1127 at least 24 hours in advance of your trip. Please see Transit tab on our website for more information. 

In-Home Care
SCCOG AAA offers in-home care assistance for homemaker and/or personal care on a limited basis. Respite services are also available for family members caring for loved ones. In-home services are provided to assist older frail persons and enabled them to remain in their own homes with a maximum degree of independence. Eligible consumers cannot be covered by any insurance including Medicaid or any home care assistance program. SCCOG Care Services of Las Animas and Huerfano Counties are contracted to provide these services on AAA approval.

Material Aid Assistance
SCCOG AAA offers material aid assistance for your choice of vision, dental, or hearing services as funds are available.

Screening
SCCOG AAA partners with the Las Animas-Huerfano Counties District Health Department to offer monthly screening at all congregate sites, Corazon Square in Trinidad, and at local health departments.

Elder Abuse Awareness
Each year many seniors are abused, neglected, or exploited. SCCOG AAA partners with local Department of Human Services to provide elder abuse awareness. We want people to know how to report and that it is important to report any abuse. We provide information and sponsor shredding for seniors to dispose of their personal papers safely and securely at the Sayre Senior Center in Trinidad.  Call our office for resources in Walsenburg.  

Care and Share

Trinidad - Las Animas County Fairgrounds
SCCOG administers Care and Share TEFAP and CSFP Senior food boxes in Trinidad on the Wednesday AFTER the 3rd Tuesday of each month at the Las Animas County Fairgrounds.
