Stevie Medina, Housing Director
Stevie has a vast and wide based knowledge of the construction industries. The majority of his education was received by a hands on approach which involved all aspects of construction from dirt work, concrete work and foundations, framing, sheetrock, stucco, roofing, finish work, plumbing, insulation, metal buildings, etc. He has been working in the construction field since his early teens. He started out working in the local lumber yard in Raton loading and delivering construction materials to the contractors and homeowners in the area. In 1992, Stevie joined the family owned construction business where he was taught all aspects of construction which included, training and supervision of work crews for both commercial and residential construction and remodeling, working knowledge and use of the International Building Codes, budgeting/bidding, estimating, monitoring of inspections, interpreting codes, and the hands on intricacies of day to day construction.
In 2008, Stevie was hired as the Rehabilitation Specialist for SCCOG where he became familiar with and helped to manage contractors and projects for the CDBG Single Family Owner Occupied Rehabilitation Program and the Home Modification program. In 2011 when Stevie's mentor and boss retired, Stevie applied for and received the position as Housing Director.
Raton is where Stevie calls home with his wife Melissa and their three girls. If there is a ball game, dance recital, speech, assembly, or school function that involves the girls‚ that is where you will likely find him. He is also very active in the community. Stevie is the Vice President of the Raton Little League, he coaches a little league softball team, and is an assistant coach with the Raton High School Softball team.
Kathy Parker, Rehabilitation Loan Specialist
Kathy has been with the SCCOG Housing Rehabilitation team since September of 2013 as our Rehabilitation Loan Specialist. Kathy has 37 years of experience in banking/lending which gives her a well-rounded and extensive background in the field. Kathy will be with you every step of the way during your loan process, from application to loan servicing and everything in between. She will also be there to help you with any questions you may have about our Energy Outreach Colorado Utility Assistance program.
