NON-SKILLED PERSONAL CARE SERVICES
Personal care services are those services that address activities of daily living (ADLs) including the following: bathing, dressing, skin care, hair care, oral care, shaving, assistance with mobility and ambulation, assistance with transfers and/or positioning, bladder and/or bowel care, medication reminding, protective oversight and accompanying in the community.
HOMEMAKER SERVICES
General light housekeeping tasks are provided in the home to maintain a safe and sanitary environment. Homemaker tasks include dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, bathroom cleaning, kitchen cleaning, trash removal, dish washing, laundry tasks, bed making, linen change, meal preparation, shopping and errand tasks.
HOME COMMUNITY BASED SERVICES
The Home and Community Based Services for the Elderly, Blind and Disabled (HCBS ‚ EBD) are services provided in the home and community setting to individuals who are eligible for Medicaid reimbursements for long term care needs. These individuals would otherwise require nursing facility care without the provision of HCBS-EBD and CMHS services, with the cost for care no more than the cost of the nursing home.
Eligibility of HCBS services are determined by the local Department of Human Services in either Las Animas or Huerfano County. Once an individual is deemed eligible, the referral will be made to our appropriate office for staffing.
Clients can be authorized by the Department of Human Services for either relative or non-relative care assistance. Authorization is given for a specific length of time and then reauthorized as needed by the Department of Human Services. Depending on the service authorized, relative care givers other than a spouse, may be considered and employed by the agency if they meet employment requirements through this Medicaid Program.
